What if my customer wants to return an order from the UK?
The process for returning goods is exactly the same as on the outward journey, but the other way round. The returned products will need to be declared to the Dutch customs authorities and depending on the value, VAT will need to be paid. Additional customs clearance charges and handling costs may also apply.
You can apply for an Article 23 permit for your returns. As part of that, you declare the import on your VAT return and you do not have to pay VAT per item at customs.
Applying for an Article 23 permit takes eight weeks. We advise you to ask your tax advisor which solution is best for you in terms of returns.
Please note that you will no longer be able to create returns in your MyParcel account.
