When is a surcharge for manual processing applied?

There are various reasons that lead to manual processing of a parcel. In short, this can be due to:

• The size and weight of a parcel: if a parcel is larger than 100 x 70 x 58 cm or weighs more than 23 kg, a surcharge will apply. We are already passing this on in the form of the XL surcharge (or large format surcharge).
• The packing method: if a parcel is not properly packed, this can result in manual handling. In the (dutch) PDF we explain in which situations this occurs.
• The designation on the parcel: if you use a sticker or tape on a parcel with a designation such as 'Fragile' or 'This side up', the parcel is processed manually. In the PDF, we explain this in more detail.
