What is a peak surcharge?
To handle and deliver as many parcels as possible during the busy end-of-year period, carriers take extra measures. They hire additional staff and use more materials specifically for this period. To partly cover these costs, carriers apply a peak surcharge.
Therefore, from November 19th to December 31st, every year, a peak surcharge applies to parcels and letterbox parcels sent to destinations within the Netherlands, within Europe, outside Europe, and parcels returned by the recipient.
The amount of the peak surcharge depends on the carrier. Please refer to our surcharges handout for the exact price per carrier.
