Verstegen Spices & Sauces B.V. is a Rotterdam-based family business, founded in 1886. Currently, the fourth generation is at the helm. Verstegen believes that herbs and spices are the foundation of flavor. They source the ingredients for their products directly from the origin, through sustainable partnerships with local farmers. This is appreciated by consumers, as Verstegen’s herbs and spices are now available in over 1,800 supermarkets in the Netherlands and Belgium. Additionally, they offer their products online through Picnic, bol, and annually ship thousands of parcels from their three own webshops: one for consumers in the Netherlands, one for consumers in Belgium, and one professional webshop. Digital Brand Manager Frederique Sedee discusses the shipping challenges they faced and how an efficient shipping process ultimately contributed to growth and higher customer satisfaction.

Verstegen’s shipping and order process initially ran through a different shipping platform. However, there were improvement opportunities throughout the entire shipping process, and they realized that the old shipping process was impeding their growth opportunities. “We noticed that the shipping platform we were using did not meet the growth opportunities we had in mind. Our old shipping process was slow, and order processing wasn’t smooth. That’s why we started looking for a new platform.”

A user-friendly shipping platform that streamlines processes.

To leverage their growth opportunities, Verstegen sought a scalable shipping platform capable of making order and shipping processes smoother and more efficient. Through their Webshop Account Manager, Carlijn Robberecht, they were introduced to MyParcel.

“The reason we switched to MyParcel is because of the user-friendliness of the platform. You can easily generate labels from multiple systems, such as bol and WooCommerce. The previous shipping platform we used had fewer options for system integration. We often had to create orders manually and couldn’t choose multiple labels directly from Magento. Now, we use WooCommerce and MyParcel, and this process is much better streamlined. Orders requiring multiple labels can be printed directly from WooCommerce, and all other orders come directly from the system.

After marking the order as ready, the customer receives an email with the tracking code. Clicking on it takes the customer to their own Verstegen/MyParcel environment, where they can find all information about the package. This also reduces the number of inquiries we receive about things like delivery times for parcels.

Do you have a question or issue? The staff is very friendly and helpful, and you quickly get answers to your questions. We have a very nice contact person whom we can turn to with our questions. They really listen to us, and that is very pleasant.”
